ABOUT ME
HI, I'M FAAIZAH
My personal counselling journey began in my late teenage/early adolescent years and is what inspired me to pursue an undergraduate degree in Psychology. From there, my passion grew, eventually leading me to complete a diploma in Therapeutic Counselling. Throughout this period of study, I have worked with numerous charities and organisations all of which have provided me with the knowledge and skills I now use in my own practice, leaving me feeling competent in my skillset should you choose to contact me going further.
Some of my professional work experience since being qualified has included me working as a Community Mental Health Support Worker, providing support for Adult Carers experiencing mental health issues or caring for someone with mental health issues. A Bereavement Support Practitioner, working with parents, children, young people and families on the whole, who had experienced a loss of some kind. An Educational Mental Health Practitioner with children and young people in schools. Simultaneously, I have volunteered with several Child Contact Centre’s, offering support to parents visiting their children under supervision.
CHILDREN & YOUNG PEOPLE
I provide therapy for not only adults, but children & young people too, who are experiencing poor mental health or difficult feelings and/or experiences. Having worked with and partaken in training relating to children and young people between the ages the ages of 3 - 18, I have a solid understanding and grounding in the knowledge of child development. My work with this age group involves using various mediums of expression i.e., art and creativity, play, story work and verbal expression etc., tailored specifically to the child or young person. By creating a safe space for them, I provide them with the resources to understand their emotions, develop coping skills and build emotional resilience.
